The Council on Postsecondary Education, GEAR UP Kentucky and the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority partnered to host GO!vember, a campaign designed to inform Kentucky high school students and their families about the college and financial aid application process and encourage enrollment in postsecondary education.

GO!vember culminated with a “Paying for College 101” Virtual Parent Night hosted by the KHEAA on Nov. 17. KHEAA outreach counselors answered questions from students and family members on scholarships, financial aid, loans and more. More than 100 people participated in the event, which also included live Spanish translation.

“Preparing Kentucky’s students for college or skills-related technical programs is key for creating a strong economic climate via an educated workforce. Working through partnerships such as GO!vember is one of the many ways KHEAA reaches out to students and parents.” - KHEAA Executive Director Gene Hutchins

The campaign shared information on:

The GO!vember campaign’s student resource hub will continue to serve as a one-stop-shop for guidance on choosing a college and major, completing the FAFSA, applying for scholarships, enrolling in dual credit programs and more.

“Any student who wants to further their education should have access to the information they need to take those first steps toward earning a credential or degree. The GO!vember campaign will help us reach students and offer them support.” - CPE President Aaron Thompson

GO!vember is part of the organizations’ efforts to support the state’s goal of 60 percent of working-age Kentuckians obtaining a college-level certificate or degree by 2030. Reaching that goal will bring the state closer to the projected national average and make Kentucky more competitive in an economy where most new jobs require a postsecondary credential.
